Lead section trim per MOS:LEDE

[edit]

If people want to know how to do a medley or how big a pool is. They can go to the general individual medley page or the Olympic swimming page to find that info. But not in a specific event page. Per MOS:LEDE, the lead was revised to focus on a summary, not filler detail which I trimmed. Previous discussion on same issue and consensus is found here: Talk:Swimming at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's 100 metre freestyle#top. Essay on more detailed explanation: User:IP49XX/Why MOS Matters. IP49XX (talk) 02:36, 13 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, it feels like ages since I reviewed one of your articles, even though it was less than a couple of weeks! Well done on another impressive article :) My comments are just suggestions for readers unfamiliar with sports terminology

1.) Lead – "France's Léon Marchand and China's Wang Shun were the favourites, to take gold and silver, respectively" – could you please remove the first comma and clarify "favourites",

2.) Lead – could you please clarify what "led at 50 metres", "contenders" and "held his lead" mean?

3.) Background – Could you please clarify "other contenders"?

4.) Heats – could you please link London 2012?

5.) Final – could you please clarify what "the fastest fly split of the field, turning at the 50 metre split" means?

6.) "which he extended over the breaststroke leg (100–150 m) and maintained over the freestyle leg (150–200 m)" – Same as above

7.) I would recommend putting Note A into the prose rather than a note as I think it quite useful in the main article prose

Once these have been addressed I will do a source spotcheck. As usual, please let me know if you have any questions at all or if you need any assistance! :) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 16:45, 31 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@It is a wonderful world Hey, just pinging you in case you missed it as you usually reply very quickly (no rush though, genuinely! :)) DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 00:57, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@DaniloDaysOfOurLives I did indeed miss this. Thanks so much for reviewing. I addressed all your points except I didn't put note A in the prose, because the background section is already very long and I don't think the information is very important. IAWW (talk) 11:36, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thank you for the changes! I have source spotchecked sources #4, #14, #22 and #24. I am passing this - well done! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 01:06, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
