Recurring issue: excessive detail in lead

[edit]

Unnecessary details (specifically how long the pool is and how many laps to complete 200m race) is removed from lead in line with MOS:LEDE. Same Issue has already been discussed before at: Talk:Swimming at the 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's 100 metre freestyle#top. Also Essay helps explain further: User:IP49XX/Why MOS Matters. Hey, well done for this awesome article! You should be very proud. I have made some changes and here are my further suggestions:

  1. Can you please clarify "also in contention", "defending" and "most decorated"?
  2. "a better chance to swim both these events" – would "do well" or "win" be better than "swim"? Since he can swim at both these events regardless of whether he does well or not
  3. Could you please clarify "contenders" in the background section?
  4. Could you please clarify that de Lara came 17th initially?
  5. "He also swam Olympic records in both races" – Maybe it may be better to change to "achieved Olympic records in both races"?
  6. Could you please clarify "best decorated" in the final section?

Once these have been addressed I will do a source spotcheck and pass the article! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 22:35, 13 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
