Another great article, well done! :) Earwig shows no problems and I can't see any so I will dive right in (no pun intended ;) LOL) with my comments:
1.) "In the final, Greece's Apostolos Christou let for the first three quarters of the race" - Could you please clarify this?
Done
2.) "Other competitors included Great Britain's defending Olympic bronze medallist" - Can you please clarify "defending"?
Done also broke up that sentence more
3.) I think footnote A could be part of the background section rather than a note as I think it is important. I initially missed it and other readers might too. But it is not make or break, I will still pass it even if stays a footnote of course :)
Done
4.) Heat - "Greenbank won the fourth heat but was disqualified for swimming more than 15 metres underwater off the start" - Can you please clarify what "off the start" means?
- Changed to "at the start of the race"
5.) "Denilson Cyprianos of Zimbabwe lowered his own national record in the event to 2:01.91" - Could you replace "lowered" to clarify that he beat the record? Also, can it be clarified whether the previous record was his or just of Zimbabwe?
Done
6.) "Rand's record was set with a supersuit, before they were banned in 2009" - Could this be clarified as I do not see the relevance of it being here? I have no issue with it being in the article, I just think clarity would be good for readers to see the link :)
- I added "before they were banned in 2009 due to giving larger athletes a greater advantage" with a source. I hope that is sufficiently clear?
7.) "Christou's second-place finish made him the first Greek Olympic medallist in pool swimming since the first Olympics in 1896" - I think this is lead worthy - it is quite interesting and will hook readers!
- I agree, added
8.) I made some small edits, I hope that is okay :)
- Yes thank you
9.) Just a note for the Heats section - after reviewing the sources, it may be worth saying "China's Xu Jaiyu, the sixth seed for the event, did not show up to his heat, though it was not known why" or something similar, as it is possible that he did give an explanation but the sources just do know/did not know at the time
- I just cut the last bit since I think it was unnecessary detail anyways.
10.) Another note after reviewing the sources - for the "Final" section, the source says "This [1896] was the last Olympics in which the country had won a medal in short-distance swimming" whereas the section says "pool" - is this the same thing or is it worth changing to "short-distance swimming"?
- It is the same thing. It says this because a Greek swimmer finished second in the 10km open water marathon swimming event in 2016. Good spot though.
Spotchecked Sources #5, #10, #13, #22 and #26. When the above is responded to I will pass the article :D Let me know if you need anything! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 04:48, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
- @DaniloDaysOfOurLives Thanks for another great review. I have addressed all your concerns above. IAWW (talk) 07:06, 7 May 2025 (UTC)
