Colours
[edit]Each franchise will wear black, white, and one other colour which is not a state team colour. (source). The article lists Brisbane colours as "yellow, redy orange and maroon" which don't seem to agree with this? -- Chuq (talk) 09:42, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- Actually I couldn't find a source anywhere else, so I've removed it. -- Chuq (talk) 10:58, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Team table - to-do
[edit]Still to do:
- Make square images for the colours (instead of using cell background colours)
- Format references
- Make stub articles for each franchise
- As tempting as it is to "merge" with the Tigers, Bulls, Redbacks etc. pages, the teams will have different colours, different players... and it can't really be done with the Sydney and Melbourne teams, so separate articles make sense.
- Make a team location map like at A-League#Current_clubs
-- Chuq (talk) 11:06, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Including a Sub-heading
[edit]Should the recently deleted article of Melbourne Derby (cricket) between Renegades and Stars be included in this article under a sub-heading? Please express your wishes. Itz arka (talk) 07:11, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- Why would the 'derby' need its own sub-heading, let alone its own article? In any given season the Stars will play the Renegades twice, as will both Sydney teams - it's nothing special, just business as usual. 155.143.112.133 (talk) 10:57, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Proposed merger
[edit]I propose to merge Women's Big Bash League into this article. And I also propose the following mergers:
- Merge Adelaide Strikers (WBBL) into Adelaide Strikers
- Merge Brisbane Heat (WBBL) into Brisbane Heat
- Merge Hobart Hurricanes (WBBL) into Hobart Hurricanes
- Merge Melbourne Renegades (WBBL) into Melbourne Renegades
- Merge Melbourne Stars (WBBL) into Melbourne Stars
- Merge Perth Scorchers (WBBL) into Perth Scorchers
- Merge Sydney Sixers (WBBL) into Sydney Sixers
- Merge Sydney Thunder (WBBL) into Sydney Thunder
- Model the articles after articles on Hundred Franchises like London Spirit just as an example
- Basically exact same franchises, same logos, same colours.
- The Men's and Women's Big Bash Team's don't have seperate Social Media accounts, although the Big Bash Leagues do but that is very common for sports leagues, with the exception of YouTube.
- Only differences are the Men's Squad and Women's Squad, the Stadiums they play at, and the year the competitions have started. It has been same teams every year with same logos every year and same colours
- Jerseys are identical except for sponsors (Sometimes) and of course different league logo
- I also propose to have both Logos in the InfoBox if possible. If not possible, don't use a logo and create a new section for the Men's and Women's Big Teams and use this for the image: file:///BBL.svg and also have seperate sections for Men's and Women's Tournaments or use a Template for Winners with the Winner from Each Season either by Year or Season number
- I will request the article the moved to Big Bash Leagues or The Big Bash if there is consensus for a merge.

- I don't object to the principle of this at all. But I have a concern and a query:
- query: why move this article? Just Big Bash League should do shouldn't it?
- concern: there is a lot of cruft that would need dealing with - for example at Perth Scorchers (WBBL) there's a tonne of stats cruft, the (entirely unreferenced) sponsorship table, the grounds, all the bolding making much of it unreadable, the rivalries section etc... There's then a load of detail at Perth Scorchers as well - every season summarised. I can't imagine those merged effectively without the loss of a lot of stuff. Now, I'm of the opinion that that stuff needs to go anyway - a List of Perth Scorchers records would help; perhaps a List of Perth Scorchers grounds and List of Perth Scorchers captains as well. And List of Perth Scorchers cricketers would need expanding to women? But there's 13 men's seasons and 10 women's seasons.
- Perhaps it might be helpful to mock up one of these articles to show what it might look like when it's merged? But there's a lot of work to do here - and that's before you get to the flags and colours issues with the MOS. I'd be happier if I knew what this would look like for one team (I pretty randomly selected Perth fwiw - iirc Hobart has a lot less cruft, for example Blue Square Thing (talk) 14:54, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- Blue Square Thing The stuff doesn't have to be merged immediately. If consensus is reached, it should be done over time. I honestly don't see a Big problem with over content. The content is there to help us read about information. It's not like we have to read everything in order when reading an article Servite et contribuere (talk) 15:02, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- I think I'm struggling to imagine what these articles would look like though. If it's clearly sectioned with fewer tables anymore prose then there might be a value to merging them. Although in theory it's undoubtedly a good thing to merge these, they have a lot more cruft on than the London Spirit article has and I suspect that length, with the tables, is the problem you'll run into. In terms of prose there's no real problem - the women's Perth article, for example, is only 372 words (per prosize), but is 48,023 bytes; the mens' article is 2,560 words and 68,263 bytes
- Maybe I'll have a go later on and see what I can come up for one of the shorter articles - probably Hobart. But unless people are willing to cut or split off content, the sheer length of the articles is going to be too long Blue Square Thing (talk) 16:27, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose all, on the grounds that the women's teams are independently notable and sufficiently long that that readers are best served by having the content separate. I also argue that the proposal is technically invalid as the women's articles have not been tagged for the merge. Klbrain (talk) 09:09, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- Klbrain Placing the tags would have been exhausting. Could people help me please? I am in Australia where we have a Federal Election Tomorrow (Saturday our time) and my focus is being prepared to vote. And no I am not giving you any information about me. The only information you will get is that I am in Australia. Servite et contribuere (talk) 22:41, 1 May 2025 (UTC)
- Good luck preparing to vote in the 2025 Australian federal election; I was on the register there until a quarter of a century ago; Senate elections can be complicated if you decide to vote 'below the line', and it seems as though that might still be the case! No rush with the templates; I'm sure we can wait until after tomorrow's election. Klbrain (talk) 09:02, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
- Above the line at least is easier. Techie3 (talk) 00:32, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
