Merge Desna Attack with this article

[edit]

I suggest that Desna barracks airstrike be merged with this article. It is literally on the same region/topic. Muhafiz-e-Pakistan (talk) 17:06, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Neutral — I support the merge in terms of expansion because the Desna barracks airstrike article is a small stub, but I oppose the merge because the airstrike easily should pass notability requirements with 87 killed in a single event. If anyone is willing to attempt to expand the airstrike article, preferably to start class, then consider this an oppose, otherwise, consider this a support. Elijahandskip (talk) 17:24, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - Desna article is too small, even if its notable.SnoopyBird (talk) 23:22, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose It is literally on the same region/topic this does not mean a merge is necessary. I think the article has potential. As Elijahandskip said, 87 people died at once, this is most likely notable. Super Ψ Dro 12:38, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Closing, given the uncontested objection and stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 11:45, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing?

[edit]

The last event in this seems to have been in mid-2022. What exactly is the guideline for when we stop declaring it to be "ongoing" and just mark the end date as 29 July? I'm not sure where I would find this. HappyWith (talk) 16:36, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Mention January Reconnaissance

[edit]

In January, Russia attacked Sumy Oblast in the direction of Sumy before defeat. This should be mentioned within the article. 213.57.142.238 (talk) 19:35, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2022 northeastern Ukraine–Russia border skirmishes2022 northern Ukraine–Russia border shelling – The subject of this article is not "skirmishes", it's largely one-sided Russian shelling of northern Ukraine. Chernihiv Oblast and Sumy Oblast are not in the northeast, they're in the far north. HappyWith (talk) 06:07, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose I remember reading news several times about Russian troops having crossed the border or attempted to do so to enter Ukrainian territory through Chernihiv and Sumy oblasts. Though honestly the article is not really necessary. Super Dromaeosaurus (talk) 09:38, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose I dont believe that this event warrants the requested move as it is part of a larger event. I don't beleive that the move requested will help readers of the article or by not moving the article it will cause confusion. For these reasons, I oppose the move. Jurisdicta (talk) 12:38, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I considered a merge too - though I’m not sure what target would be good. Maybe the "Aftermath" section of Northern Ukraine campaign? Idk. HappyWith (talk) 03:06, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think that'd be good. As long as it is mentioned that Russia shelled Ukrainian border villages and attempted a few crossings it should be okay. Super Dromaeosaurus (talk) 08:54, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The title

[edit]

I think it would be better if we rename the northern Ukraine skirmishes to the northern Ukraine campaign if Russia launches an offensive in the north to build a buffer zone. Russia is also preparing for the new offensive currently. 111.65.44.179 (talk) 23:06, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If such an event takes place it will most likely be covered in a separate article. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) 23:09, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If the Russians launch an offensive operation throughout its border towards Chernihiv and sumy oblasts, will it be considered a Russian victory since Russia successfully crossed the border? 111.65.56.180 (talk) 06:26, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If sources consider it a Russian victory we will record it that way. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) 06:30, 27 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Should be done now

[edit]

Hello users, after reading the messages above, I think it is better to rename this page as the "Northern Ukraine Campaign" or "Northern Ukraine Axis" as ISW says it. ISW also didn't mention that it is still the "Northern Ukraine Skirmishes" anymore but the "Northern Ukraine Axis".Moreover, even the Ukraine general staff AND ZELENSKYY also mentioned it as an offensive, not a skirmish anymore. ISW is an official war source. So I suggest we follow them. 2001:D08:1831:72BE:B802:12FF:FE12:7CFB (talk) 07:53, 12 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your suggested name might be confused with the Feb-Apr 2022 Northern front of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which is also referred to as the "Northern Ukraine campaign". Redbeansoup (talk) 11:08, 17 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What you are bringing up seems to me to be a reference to the events which this website calls 2025 Sumy Oblast incursion. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) 03:49, 20 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

maps before and after?

[edit]

is it possible to have before and after maps of current areas under which control? 85.24.186.179 (talk) 15:19, 6 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
