John Bard Hymer (died 1953) was an actor and playwright in the U.S. He collaborated with Samuel Shipman on plays including East is West (1918), which was twice adapted to film. They also worked together on Crime and Scarlet Pages, which was also adapted to film.[1]

In 1906 he had a part in The Clansman play.[2] He and his stock company performed "Tom Walker in Dixie" in Sacramento in 1920.[3]

The Harvard Crimson reviewed one of his collaborations with LeRoy Clemens.[4]

Colony House in the Lakewood Theatre Colony in Maine was built for him.[5]

His son Warren Hymer became a film actor. He died of muscular dystrophy in 1953.[6]
