Fuego en la sangre (Translated to "Fire in the Blood", but in English called Burning for Revenge) is a Mexican telenovela that began transmissions on January 21, 2008, through Mexico's Canal de las Estrellas network.

Starring Adela Noriega, Eduardo Yáñez, Jorge Salinas, Diana Bracho, María Sorté, Nora Salinas, Pablo Montero, Elizabeth Álvarez, Guillermo García Cantú, René Casados and Ninel Conde.

It is the Mexican adaptation of the Colombian 1994 soap opera Las aguas mansas, which had previously been remade into a popular 2003 version titled Pasión de gavilanes and produced by RTI Colombia in association with Telemundo and Caracol Televisión.[1]

The theme song called "Para siempre" was composed by Joan Sebastian and sung by Vicente Fernández.

Plot

[edit]

Juan (Eduardo Yáñez), Oscar (Jorge Salinas) and Franco Reyes (Pablo Montero) are three brothers who were orphaned at a very young age and swore to protect Libia (Sherlyn), their younger sister.

Hence, when she confesses to them that she's in love with Bernardo Elizondo (Carlos Bracho), a married man many years her senior, they become furious and will only allow the relationship if the two marry. Nonetheless, both Bernardo and Libia die in a terrible tragedy.

Consequently, the three men are filled with rage and swear to avenge their little sister's death. Therefore, they arrive at the hacienda of the Elizondo family ready to do anything and, with the help of Eva (María Sorté), the housekeeper, they get job as bricklayers.

There, they meet the Elizondo sisters: Sofía (Adela Noriega), Sarita (Nora Salinas) and Jimena (Elizabeth Álvarez). The Reyes decide to seduce and then abandon them, thus fulfilling their vow of revenge. Yet, through daily contact, they discover that the three sisters are victims of the tyranny of their mother, Gabriela (Diana Bracho).

A year before meeting them, Sofía, the eldest, was raped and, to keep up appearances, her mother forced her to marry Fernando (Guillermo García Cantú), a despicable man capable of anything to get what he wants.

Juan will find in Sofía a sensitive and caring person and she will realize that he is the only man who makes her feel like a woman and forget her terrible past; but their love will be threatened by Fernando's evil deeds.

Oscar will encounter in Jimena his significant other and they will experience a love filled with joy and sensuality; nevertheless, Gabriela catches them and forbids Jimena from seeing him again.

For their part, Franco and Sarita will realize they are sensitive and romantic soulmates; however, before getting to meet her, Franco was in a relationship with Rosario (Ninel Conde), a bar singer who continues to inspire passion and desire in him.

Now the Reyes brothers will have to choose between fulfilling their oath of revenge or surrendering to the three women who changed their lives forever.
