Description George Washington's map, accompanying his "journal to the Ohio". Facsimile from Massachusetts' Historical Society Collections, vol. 61. The legend reads: "The French are now coming from their Forts on and near the Lake Erie, to Venango to erect another Fort, and from there they design to the Forks of the Monongahela and to the Logs Town, and so to continue down the River building at the most convenient places in order to prevent our settlements, etc."
