Summary

Description
English: Victoria. C. 1943. Two female members of the Volunteer Air Observers Corps (VAOC) on a seaside rooftop observation post from which they can scan the sea as well as the sky. Such coastal posts were particularly important and the VAOC has been responsible for a number of air-sea rescues of 'ditched' airmen. Note the telescope and telephone installed on the roof top.
