Description
English: This photo was taken after 1941. This photo which was taken on a beautiful night shows the Ulus Square and Çankırı Street. The Directorate General of Türkiye İş Bankası (Turkey Business Bank) is the design of İstanbulite Giulio Mongeri who was also familiar with Ankara. Mongeri is also the architect of the buildings of Osmanlı Bankası (Ottoman Bank) and Ziraat Bankası (Agricultural Bank).



Ulus Meydanı gece, 1940'lı yıllar

1941’den sonraki bir yılın fotoğrafı. Güzel bir gece fotoğrafında, Ulus Meydanı’nı, Çankırı Caddesi’ni seyrediyoruz. Binalar ışığa boğulmuş. Önlerinde, Samanpazarı durağında iki adet ABO. Henüz EGO yok, ABO, Ankara Belediyesi Otobüsleri var. Caddede üç dört kişi, otobüslerde yolcular. Bayraklar asılı. Bir bayram, 29 Ekim Cumhuriyet Bayramı’yla ilgili olabilir.
Türkiye İş Bankası Genel Müdürlüğü, Ankara’nın yabancısı olmayan İstanbullu Giulio Mongeri’nin tasarımı. Mongeri daha önce Osmanlı Bankası, daha sonra Ziraat Bankası binalarının da mimarı. Çam Sokağı köşesinden Sümerbank da görülüyor.

Çankırı Caddesi’ndeki Meydan Palas yıkılmıştır. Yerine yapılan binanın duvarında Koç Ticaret Türk Anonim Şirketi’nin ışıkla tanıtımı. Koç Han’ın yanında Halk Sineması yandıktan sonra yerine yapılan Park Sineması. Bayer İlaçları’nın reklâmı da ışık içerisinde.
