Summary

Description

Tom Suozzi's says "We are huge net donors to the federal government! I will continue to fight for increased and fairer funding for our local communities. Yesterday, I voted for, and the House passed, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2019. This important legislation frees up much-needed funding for programs that are important to me and my constituents. Through this year’s House appropriations process, I helped secure: • $21 million dollars to help restore the Long Island Sound; • $60 million for the Homeless Veterans’ Reintegration Program; • $366 million for the Navy’s Environmental Restoration, a portion of which will go to the cleanup of the Navy-Grumman Plume in Bethpage; • $178 million in grants for workforce and job training; • $200 million for peer-reviewed research for ovarian and breast cancers, as well as Alzheimer’s disease. These funds will benefit institutions such as Cold Spring Harbor Labs and the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research in Manhasset; and

• $16 million for the Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youth and Adults in Port Washington.”
