English: Asturias (ship)
The 'Asturias'. Royal Mail Steam Packet Company. Built 1925, 22071 tons. In 1939 she was converted in to an armed merchant cruiser. In July 1943 she was torpedoed while escorting a floating dock to Freetown. She remained afloat and was towed 400 miles to that port where she lay derelict until 1945. She was taken to Gibraltar and then to Belfast and after being repaired, was used to carry immigrants to Australia. In 1954 she became a regular peacetime trooper. Broken up in 1957.
