| Description |
English: On August 5, 2024, people from all walks of life, including students, entered Dhaka from across the country to surround the Parliament House and Ganabhaban. During the anti-quota movement, the Hasina government's harsh remarks, along with the torture and subsequent killing of students by Chatra League and police, led the coordinators of the anti-discrimination movement to announce the "Long March to Dhaka" program on August 4 to seek the final resolution.
Risking their lives and defying all obstacles and curfews, hundreds of thousands of people entered Dhaka and began advancing toward the Parliament House and Ganabhaban. Finding the situation unfavorable, Sheikh Hasina and her associates were forced to flee the country. Subsequently, the students and citizens present at the Parliament House and Ganabhaban stayed there throughout the day to celebrate their victory, dedicating it to all those who had been martyred.
বাংলা: ৫ আগস্ট, ২০২৪- এ সংসদ ভবন ও গণভবন ঘেরাও করতে সারাদেশ থেকে ছাত্র ছাত্রীসহ সকল স্তরের মানুষ ঢাকায় প্রবেশ করে। কোটাবিরোধী আন্দোলনের সময় হাসিনা সরকারের কটু মন্তব্য ও ছাত্রদের ওপর ছাত্রলীগ ও পুলিশ কর্তৃক নির্যাতন ও পরবর্তীতে ছাত্রহত্যার শেষ ফয়সালা করতে ৪ আগস্টে বৈষম্য বিরোধী আন্দোলনের সমন্বয়করা 'লং মার্চ টু ঢাকা" কর্মসূচির ঘোষণা দেন। জীবনের ঝুকি নিয়ে সকল প্রকার বাধা ও কারফিউ উপেক্ষা করে লক্ষাধিক মানুষ ঢাকায় প্রবেশ করে সংসদ ভবন ও গণভবন এর দিকে অগ্রসর হতে থাকে। পরিস্থিতি অনূকুলে না থাকায় শেখ হাসিনা ও তার নেতাকর্মীরা দেশ ছেড়ে পালাতে বাধ্য হয়। পরবর্তীতে সংসদ ভবন ও গণভবনে উপস্থিত ছাত্রছাত্রী ও জনগণ সারাদিন সেখানেই অবস্থান করে তাদের বিজয় উদযাপন করে এবং এ বিজয় শহীদ হওয়া সকল মানুষকে উৎসর্গ করে। |
