Summary
| Description |
English: William Herbert Wallace's defence when on trial in 1931 for his wife's murder was that at the time of the crime he had been several miles away, having received a message that a customer would like him to call at number 25, Menlove Garden East. He went to the Menlove Gardens estate but discovered that this road - and therefore the address - did not exist. The estate consists of three roads surrounding a triangular green. If Menlove Gardens East had existed it would have been here, where this photo was taken. Clearly, it does not exist and never has done. |
