Summary

Description

At the north wall of Amarna Tomb 9, the tomb owner Mahu, who served as the Chief of Police at Amarna under king Akhenaten, is depicted riding his chariot in a tomb relief. As the head of Akhenaten's police, Mahu would likely have been greatly feared at Amarna/Akhetaten by the general population for the immense power that he held under in this city during the Amarna period. His fate is unknown after Egypt abandoned the Atenist experiment at Amarna and returned to the Amun orthodoxy to Thebes, Egypt under Tutankhamun, Akhenaten's own son.
