The demo was organized by Campact and titled 'Aufstand der Anständigen — Demo für die Brandmauer' (unofficial translation 'Uprising of the decent— demo for the firewall'). The location is in front of the Reichstag Building. The estimated number of participants was 160–250 thousand. The protest was triggered by the failure of Friedrich Merz of the CDU party to maintain a separation in parliament with the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party.
