Coat of arms of Algiers in bab Dzezira according to (in Arabic) (2007) تاريخ وعمران قصبة الجزائر: من خلال مخطوط ألبير ديفواكس, موفم للنشر, p. 75 ISBN: 978-9961-62-473-9.

  • (1937). "L’ensemble militaire". Feuillets d'El-Djezaïr 1 (1): 71–82.: "Bab-el-Dzezira (the gate of the Island), near the Admiralty, whose pediment presented an escutcheon - the work of some slave - where the Seal of Solomon was depicted, under a crown surmounted by a crescent . To this crest were added flags, lions, cannons, ships. This representation was considered to express the ancient arms of Algiers. The new weapons date from 1862".
  • (in English) (1986) Flag Bulletin, Flag Research Center. : "One Dey, however, at least had a coat of arms: these still survive sculptured on the wall of a building in Algiers. Though now whitewashed over, the colours are on record. The arms consisted of a green shield, bearing the interlacing triangles known as the seal of Solomon, in gold, with a silver crescent in the centre. The whole had a red border and was surmounted by a sort of crown. It was perhaps these arms which led a modern French writer to speak rather inaccurately of the Deys as having a "green standard with a golden crescent".
  • Assari, Nadir (2007) (in French) Alger: des origines à la régence turque, Alpha ISBN: 978-9961-780-15-2. : "coat of arms which represented: a heart-shaped shield, resting at the tip on a ball and placed under a crown surmounted by a crescent: in the field, a star with a crescent in the center known in Algiers under the name of Khatem Sidna Slimane or Seal of our Lord Solomon; four tricolor flags (red, green, yellow), placed by placed in pairs on each side and in saltire, accompanied this escutcheon which was supported by two climbing lions, whose hind legs rested on cannons".
