DescriptionKings cross 3 with Flying Scotsman geograph-2277072-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg
English: 'Flying Scotsman' in its final working state, at King's Cross in 1960.
View NW of Gresley's immortal A3 Pacific, latterly numbered 60103 and almost in its final BR form - it acquired smoke deflectors in 12/61 in the 'Bottom' Locomotive Yard at King's Cross. (Diesels that begun working in on empty stock in 1958 and on suburban services in 1959 are also evident). As is well known this famous locomotive, after withdrawal from BR service in 1/63, was preserved in main-line working order and has hauled numerous Specials for enthusiasts, abroad as well as in Britain and is now in the National Railway Museum at York.
