Description
Español: El lienzo representa el acto celebrado el día 30 de diciembre de 1885, a las dos de la tarde, en el que la reina Regente María Cristina de Habsburgo-Lorena juró ante las Cortes, tras la defunción de su esposo, el rey Alfonso XII, ser fiel al heredero del trono y guardar la Constitución de 1876. Junto a la reina aparecen sus dos hijas, las infantas María de las Mercedes y María Teresa y frente a la reina está el presidente del Gobierno, Antonio Cánovas del Castillo, con el libro abierto. A la izquierda del trono y situado casi de espaldas al espectador aparece el general Arsenio Martinez Campos.
