English: 1859 GOTHIC REVIVAL MANSION USED BY FEDERAL TROOPS EARLY IN THE DAY OF THE CHANCELLORSVILLE BATTLE AND THEN BY GENERAL ROBERT E. LEE LATER IN THE DAY. A FIRE IN 2003 DESTROYED THE INTERIOR AND COLLPASED THE ROOF.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IDLEWILD IS DIFFICULT TO FIND AND DIFFICULT TO REACH ONCE FOUND. GATEWAY BLVD NO LONGER EXISTS. A LARGE MALL EXISTS ON THE NEARBY GROUNDS AND THERE IS AN ACCESS ROAD TO A NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CALLED IDLEWILD ALONG I-95. THE RUINS SIT ON THE TOP OF A STEEP HILL WHICH MUST BE CLIMBED AND THROUGH THE WOODS SO IT IS BARELY VISIBLE FROM THE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT (BUT WORTH THE CLIMB)
