English: Twenty-Two Stars- The unterrified and intensely loyal Democracy, used to ring the changes, morning, noon and night, over the fact that the Republican party, in a little interior town in Indiana, once during the campaign of 1856, appeared in procession on the street with a flag on which there were only thirteen stars, representing, of course, the original thirteen States of the Union. The Peace Democracy of this State have, however, gone a step beyond that, and have thrown to the breeze, at their headquarters in this city, a banner bearing twenty-two stars only. It is suggested that these Twenty-two stars are intended to represent the States of Delaware, Marland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana , Texas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Pennsylvania (which they claim to have already carried), State Prison (which they are morally sure of). State of General Destitution, do. Sin and Misery, New Providence, B. W. I. (which they have got), New Jersey (which they would like to have), and Nova Scotia (which they ought to have, and can get cheap, for cash, at any time).

(The star pattern is a guess? A Copperhead/Peace Democrat flag)
