English: Charles-Caïus Renoux, Ruines des Casemates du Chateau Gaillard, lithograph by C. Motte, after Renoux's painting. From the book Galerie lithographiée de son altesse royale monseigneur le duc d'Orléans, dédiée a son altesse royale madame la duchesse d'Orléans / publiée par MM. J. Vatout & J.P. Quénot. Paris. 1824, vol 2, p 102. The painting was among the four which marked Renoux's debut at the Paris Salon of 1822, and was described in the catalogue: "As a result of the persecutions he was experiencing, Nicolas Poussin, forced to leave his country, comes to take a last look at his birthplace."
