Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8)	The image illustrates the problematic landing situation of the Athena lander. The loss of the mission is summarized easily by the lander legs being suspended in space. The image also shows the rugged lunar south pole terrain and the shaded region where Athena landed.
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1)	The subject is on the Moon and it would be prohibitively expensive to get a suitable replacement photograph, either from Earth, from space near the Moon, or on the Moon.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3)	The image is cropped, has reduced resolution, and reduced color information.
