Summary

Description
English: Discovery images of trans-Neptunian object 2012 VP113 (the moving fuzzy gray dot) from the 4.0-m Victor M. Blanco Telescope's Dark Energy Camera (DECam) at Cerro Tololo Observatory on 5 November 2012. This animated gif consists of 3 frames from 04:41-08:19 UTC. Each frame is an average stack of two 90-second exposures taken 1 minute apart---the average stacking makes the image clearer by reducing noise. North is up and East is left. Bright gray pixels and streaks that sporadically flicker between images are artifacts caused by cosmic rays and camera defects.
