Other versions
This file is derived from the LOC scan of a copy negative, LOC file name 3b1379u, with borders cropped and converted to JPG. File:Steamer White Horse in Five Fingers.tif is the high-resolution uncropped version from a scan or the original, and File:Steamer White Horse in Five Finger.JPG is a jpg derived from it, higher resolution but lower contrast than this file. These appear to be essentially the same image as File:Steamer White Horse in Five Finger Rapids Doody.jpg; there is a slight difference at the top of the flagpole (mostly or entirely damage to the LOC original, mostly retouched in the most recent upload) but the passengers, waves, and clouds are identical; that image was published in a book in 1908 and credited to J. Doody of Dawson, YT.
This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: removed chips and scratches by copying rectangular sections of adjacent water or cloud; nothing modified on riverboat itself. Modifications made by Dankarl. The original can be found here: [3]; previous upload is the jpg of the unretouched image for comparison.

Removed chips and scratches by copying rectangular sections from adjacent areas of water or cloud, working from the LOC tif file 3b13973u. Nothing altered on the riverboat itself.
The high-resolution jpg file previously uploaded had disappointingly low contrast. Library of Congress has another scan made from a black and white copy negative. This jpg is derived from the tiff of that second scan - less resolution but higher contra
