Renoir (Japanese: ルノワール) is an upcoming coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Chie Hayakawa. Starring Yui Suzuki, Hikari Ishida, Lily Franky and Ayumu Nakajima, the film follows the childhood of Fuki, in late-1980s Tokyo. The film will have its world premiere in the main competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Palme d'Or,[1] and will be theatrically released on Japan on 20 June 2025.[2]

Production
[edit]Principal photography took place in Japan from July to September 2024. Filming also took place in the Philippines in November 2024.[4][5]
Release
[edit]Goodfellas acquired the international sales rights to the film on 18 May 2024.[6] The film will be screened in competition at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.[7][8] A trailer was released on 11 April 2025.[9] It will receive a theatrical release in Japan on 20 June 2025.[2]
