David Robert Baden-Powell, 5th Baron Baden-Powell, 5th Baronet (born 6 January 1971 in Melbourne, Australia), is a peer of the United Kingdom. He succeeded to the barony on the death of his father in 2023.[1]

Biography

He was born in Melbourne and educated at Carey Baptist Grammar School, La Trobe University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in geology and physics, and Swinburne University of Technology, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, sociology, media, politics and economics.[2][3] He married Edwina Sophie Foster, daughter of Graham Foster, in February 2001. They have two children:[4][5]

  • Hon. Charlotte (Charley) Baden-Powell (born 7 November 2007)
  • Hon. Maxwell (Max) Baden-Powell (born 23 July 2009), the heir apparent to the Baden-Powell barony.

He is a data analyst.[1][2][5][6] Since 2010, he has been employed by SEEK in various roles across quality assurance and, since 2017, in its ontology team.[2]

He is a volunteer venturer leader with Scouts Victoria, at the 4th Brunswick Scout group in Melbourne, where his children are participants[3][4] He attended international jamborees in Korea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, China and the United Kingdom. He received the International Friendship Award from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Jade Lion Award from the Boy Scouts of China (Taiwan). For What?[3][4]
