Yale LUX ID (P13591)
[edit]Yale LUX ID (P13591) Yale's Cultural Heritage IT Collaboration. Access to millions of records for objects, people, places, concepts, and events represented in Yale’s rich cultural heritage collections.
Comment: Using authority control (arts) omits most entries. Is this correct?
Grimes2 19:11, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yes that is intentional, please see Template:Authority control#Whitelists for details — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:57, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Seems to be a little bit outdated. Museum of Modern Art, Städel, Prado etc. are clearly related to arts. Grimes2 20:05, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Support, looks useful — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:11, 9 July 2025 (UTC)

Expand whitelist art
[edit]Please expand the whitelist of authority control (arts) with Museum of Modern Art, Städel, Prado and other museums. Grimes2 16:24, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
- Is this prepared on the sandbox?
If I remember rightly, despite the name of "arts", this whitelist was never particular associated with the arts— Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:38, 16 July 2025 (UTC)- I may have misremembered that. Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2021 February 26#Template:ACArt in case you're interested in the background. It predates my involvement with this template — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:48, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- I've prepared Module:Authority control/config/sandbox, but there is not the desired result. I think Module:Authority control (arts) should be edited instead. This module is very complex, so I doubt its only for the purpose of a whitelist. Grimes2 17:21, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- Module:Authority control (arts) is unused. Your changes look correct to me — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:15, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- But the result doesn't fit. The Wikipedia article of Rembrandt has the template Authority control (arts). MoMA, Städel, Prado is missing. With |show=arts sandbox these IDs are available. There are about 20,000 articles with Authority control (arts) Grimes2 20:23, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- How does it not fit? In your sandbox example below, the MoMA, Prado, etc. are correctly showing — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:56, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- The problem is: The Wikipedia article Rembrandt has the template Authority control (arts). Grimes2 21:59, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
{{Authority control (arts)}}
is exactly the same as{{Authority control|show=arts}}
. It's just a wrapper — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:00, 16 July 2025 (UTC)- Why is the result different? Grimes2 22:01, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- It's not! The first two examples below are identical — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:03, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ohh I see, thanks. Grimes2 22:10, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
Done. Now they should all be identical — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:28, 17 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. We should discuss the removal of Fram's code on Wikipedia:Templates for discussion again. Grimes2 12:28, 17 July 2025 (UTC)

Armenia and Belarus national library authorities
[edit]Not sure how to request this, but can we please make records from the national authority files of Armenia (P8833) and Belarus (P3390) appear in the Template:Authority control in Wikipedia articles? Is there a different page where I can request this?
— Union Catalog of Armenian Libraries authority ID (P8833)
— NLB authority ID (Belarus) (P3390)

- Both don't work. Grimes2 16:13, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- How so? For example, why couldn't the following two IDs (both in the Wikidata item) be added? Wikidata already creates working links to the authority records. Though for some reason, it's now having trouble with Armenia: "marc=1&" needs to be removed from the URLs Wikidata is creating.
