Adam J. Bilzerian[a] (born 1983) is an American-born poker player. He is the brother of social media personality Dan Bilzerian.
Early life and education
[edit]Bilzerian, the son of Armenian-American corporate takeover specialist Paul Bilzerian who was convicted of securities fraud in 1989 and his wife, Terri L. Steffen, grew up in Florida.[1][2][3] He has one brother, Dan Bilzerian.[4] He attended Gaither High School, where he represented his school in tennis.[5]
On June 11, 2001, while Adam was a teenager, FBI agents raided the Bilzerian residence in Tampa, Florida, in relation to charges of market manipulation against Paul Bilzerian, who at the time was a convicted stock manipulator.[1]
Bilzerian attended Vanderbilt University, earning a B.A. in history. In 2007, he purchased a residence in Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the following year, became a citizen of the country through a "citizenship by investment" program that gives foreigners a passport for $250,000, relinquishing U.S. citizenship in the process.[6][2] In 2018, he obtained Armenian citizenship.[7]
Poker career
[edit]Bilzerian came in 47th place at the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event, winning $138,568.[8][9] His brother Dan also participated in the tournament; their performance led Norman Chad to nickname them the "Flying Bilzerian Brothers".[4] He participated in the 2010 World Series of Poker as well.[10]
